Just got back from my 2 week long date a few days ago lol. Yep that's what we're calling it lol, and we celebrated our 4 month anniversary half way through it.

I'm still buzzing over seeing my favorite band live. I'm surprised i ended up singing, jumping and fist pumping, but that made it way more fun lol.

I've been looking for this wolf hat for ages after I saw a photo of Frank from MCR wearing it onstage, and i just happened to find it at Big Day Out for a cheap price.

I stitched the words "killjoys make some noise" onto a plain tshirt, so I made my own MCR tshirt lol.

i think i'll be too busy this week to do more pages atm. by the end of the week i need to have finished christmas gifts for 2 of my friends, decorate a t-shirt to wear to a concert, and pack for the road trip. then i'll be away for 2 weeks (yay can't wait). hopefully i can finish it when i get back, in between catching up on sleep. i'll only have a week then i start course. i'm itching to get my dd finished so i can focus on other projects and i can't wait to see what it looks like when it's completed.

Project Life/Happy New Year

a couple of weeks ago i found out about project life and was immediately hooked. most of the photos i take don't really seem worth making a whole layout for, or i just never get round to it. sometimes i worry that the photos i take that never get printed and put in an album will eventually get lost in the next few generations. at the moment they're all on the computer and will probably never get copied to other user profiles. so i love the idea of putting them into an album with some journalling. i'm not that great at the whole journalling side of scrapbooking, so i'm hoping this will teach me lol.

i bought the clementine album, core kit, and cardstock, along with a mix pack of pocket pages (i was lucky enough to find them at my lss, the only place in nz that sells pl, so i skipped shipping costs lol). i've been looking through my stash of digital products and decided i'll make some of my own journal cards aswell. i hace quite a few digital products that i bought and hardly used, so i'll put them to good use lol.

i'm gonna make this album a 'whenever' album. i won't end up taking enough photos to do a page a week and a month seems to long. it'll also be a mix of 'all about me' and 'family life'.

and since this is the last day of 2011, i want to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

i've had a pretty good year. i achieved a lot more than i did in the previous 2 years. hopefully 2012 will be even better.

hope everyone's having a great Christmas.

i had a quiet one with family. my brother went to his gf's house just before lunch and then my grandma came over for a little while.

we had pancakes and a bbq for breakfast. afterall whats summer without a few bbq's? lol

i completely forgot to take photos before we ate lunch, but this is the yummy roast pork we had.

my dad got me a big day out ticket (which i knew i was getting lol). i still can't believe i'm actually going to see my heroes, my chemical romance, live. and i'm going with my boyfriend. we're also going to the parachute festival the weekend after, so an almost 2 week summer road trip with him and maybe one other mate. ar i'm so excited to see my favorite band, should be an awesome holiday.

oh, and of course we can't have christmas without a pavlova. good old kiwi tradition

December Daily days 1-9

yea, i'm falling a little behind with this, but i do have photos printed up till the 20th. my home printer prints really bad quality pics so i'm having to get my dad to print them for me once a week from his work printer. this turned out to be easier than i thought it would be. i started with the intention of taking a christmasy pic everyday but realised that wouldn't work so i just eneded up taking pictures of whatever i ended up doing each day.

day1: summer! my favorite month, i finally get to have more variety in my outfits.

day 2: my brother turned up for a surprise visit. it was only meant to be a week but he still hasn't left yet lol.

day 3: christmas parade and fair. i ended up getting sunburnt lol

day 4: put up the tree but everyone was too busy to decorate it

day 5: spent the day cardmaking

day 6: finally decorated the tree. it rained all day

day 7: i listened to christmas songs by my favourite bands and there was an amazing sunset

day 8: i spent the day in bed in my pj's and surfing the net
day 9: unusual usual friday night of 'get your own dinners' and chippies. also one of my mice died :(

Christmas gifts

so once again i'm making all my christmas gifts. these are what i've made so far.

i decorated the cover of a year planner for my bf. i used a lot of mod podge to seal it all down in the hopes that it will withstand a whole year of being pulled in and out of a school bag. i worried the whole time i was making it that it wouldn't turn out manly enough, but my dad loves it so i must've done a good job lol. i'm also gonna write little notes on significant dates to make it more special.

and i made these doll clothes for my 5 year old cousin. i actually started making them months ago when i decided to make and sell doll clothes online but that idea turned out to be frustrating (blame my old sewing machine lol) so i finished them for my cousin instead.

2 days till december and i've only made 19 pages so far. i find it extremely hard scrapbooking without a picture to use, so this really tested me lol. i made the pages pretty basic so that when i add the photos and journelling i can add embellishments around those. and i haven't added numbers yet so that i can rearrange the pages and add more if needed. i'll have to finish the last 6 pages during december, unless i can finish them in the next 2 days.

i haven't really been scrapbooking much lately because my social life has picked up a lot in the last 2 months lol, and i've been pretty tired with the occasional lack of sleep (for some reason my brain won't let me sllep when there's other people in the room, quite frustrating lol), oh and i've had quite a lot of nights when i just couldn't come up with ideas for layouts or find anything that i wanted to scraplift.

but anyway...

also, i haven't stuck any pages together because i'm going to attempt to bind them together with masking tape when they're all finished and arranged in order.

once again it's been ages since i've blogged lol. course finished 3 weeks ago and for that 3 weeks i've had a cold. i have a 4 month holiday until i start my next course (diploma in computer graphic design) and in that time i'm planning to do heaps of scrapbooking, keep up with excercise, do my holiday homework (reading the required books and drawing) and hopefully getting a job. oh and i'm dating one of the guys that was in my class. who would've thought the quietest person and the loudest person in class would get together lol. but anyways, these are my newest layouts, the first 2 i was working on during course and only just finished.

snow!

so a week ago it snowed here in wellington. it hasn't snowed here for 16 years so it's a pretty big deal lol.

i was visiting my grandma when it started and we ended up staring out the window for way to long because by the time we left the ground was completly covered in snow. my dad had to drive us home (at least it was only a couple minutes drive) and he was scared of skidding in the snow. it was kinda weird only being able to see out the front window, it felt like we were under a bridge.

so on the first day of snow i threw some snowballs, took heaps of photos and even attempte to snowboard (but i couldn't figure out how to get the boots on the board lol).

the second day i thought the snow was gone, but when i was walking home in hte afternoon, it started again and i had to walk through it for about 20 minutes. i was completely frozen when i got home and my handss were really numb, when i finally thawed out my hands they burned for hours.

and on the third day i got all ready for course, walked to the letterbox and started sliding down the driveway. i'm glad my mum was there to pull me back up and after a couple of minutes watching other people somehow manage to walk through the snow i decideed my gripless shoes probably weren't going to get me to the bus stop safely and i stayed home instead. i debated with myself all day whether or not i should go outside and build a snowman, but i decided against it because i didn't want to freeze my hands off again. kinda dissapointed that i decided against it but oh well lol, at least i sated nice and warm.

so it's been yet another month since i've blogged lol. i haven't really done much scrapbooking in the last 2 months because my room is a pig sty and it's winter, so i'd rather sit in the lounge each night infront of the fire place than sit in my cramped cold room lol. i'm getting the urge to do some more scrapping, so i guess it's time to clean my room, and since my brother's moved out, i can use his room for storage. i'm gonna have to do a huge hunt for photos that i haven't scrapped yet.

anyway's, here's pics of what i've been up to lately:

last week's assignment was a magazine assignment and i chose to do mine about scrapbooking. it was so much fun and it turned out awesome. my tutor is into scrapbooking too lol and took a copy for herself coz she loved it.

those are the first ever sketches i've made lol. just a quick 5 minute job in adobe illustrator, but i guess they look pretty good for a first time.

and this was for the me, myself and i assignment, which i did in the style of a scrapbook layout.

and lastly, a card i made for my brother.

hmm i haven't blogged or scrapped in a month lol, but i think it's time for an update. this is the 4th week of course and lot's has happened. on the second day my nana passed away. she was 3 weeks away from turning 85. my dad and bro visited her the weekend before she passed away and she asked my bro what i'm doing and when he told her i was starting a design course the very next day, her face lit up. i ended up missing 4 days of course to go up north for the funeral, luckily i didn't miss much. i've had a cold for the last 3 weeks, which is getting really annoying, it's almost gone at least. my brothers moving to the south island tomorrow for a mining course, then after that he might move to australia, so he won't be taking my junk food anymore lol. anyway's, my assignment this week is about me, so i get to do a project which includes a lot of scrapbooking, which is awesome, coz i've been too busy and tired to do any scrapbooking for the last month. i should go make a start on this assignment. ttfn.

i bought myself an 8gb ipod touch today :) the shop i saw them on sale at was sold out and i was left extremely dissapointed, but i tried another shop and was amazed they had them on sale for the same price, and i even got a half price extended warranty. oh, and i went to my graphic design interview the other day. i went to the wrong floor and got completely lost *cringe* and had to ask one of the students where the reception is, luckily he was really nice and showed me the way. 46 people applied and there's 40 places available, pretty sure i got in coz i showed creativity and a willingness to do the next level course, i should find out in the next day or two. fingers crossed lol.

today is my 21st birthday, happy birthday to me, lol.

wow i haven't blogged at all this month lol, and i've only made 2 layouts. i've been playing a lot of spider solitaire on the highest difficulty (i've only won 2 out of about 150 games), and as you can see, i've been giving my blog a makeover, it's not finished yet and i'm not sure if i like it.

i got an email today informing me that one of my layouts is going to be published in a futere issue of Scrapstreet Magazine, funny how it arrived on my birthday lol. and i have an interview on friday for a graphic design course, which i'm hoping will eventually lead into some kind of scrapbooking career, maybe designing products, and if it doesn't, then at least i will have gained confidence.

anyways, this is the cake i made for my party. i was gonna make a 6 layer rainbow cake but i couldn't be bothered lol.

i made this layout for Scrappin Patch. it's of me in 1991 in a wooden car that my grandad made.

and i made this one for Scrapbooking Competitions. it's of my brother when he was 8 days old.

I used a 6x4" photo frame to make this piece of art.

I made this little umbrella from one of those party umbrellas. I cut Kaisercraft flowers into quarters etc and stuck them down with pva.

One thing I love about Kaisercraft paper is all the little pictures you can cut out and use as embellishments. I gave this card to my Aunt and Uncle for christmas last year. They have 2 young daughters, so the colours worked perfectly for a family.

I made this album for my Nana for Christmas 2009 and I still love it.

The only Kaisercraft product I used on this is white paint, but I decided to add it to my submission anyway because it shows what I can do.

this is such a beautiful song, and i'm still shocked that my artwork was one of the few picked to be in the video. there were hundreds (maybe thousands) of submissions. i was happy that my chemical romance looked at it, but the fact that they picked it just makes me super proud.

i used some stuff from my first ever scrapbook kit, which i haven't touched in years, i stuck them to the background and covered it in gesso. i love how the layout itself looks like a creative mess :)

I started making this layout about half way through last year and finally finished it a week ago, lol. I wanted my Dad to find out how old he was when he got his childhood dog and when they gave her away, but he kept forgetting to ask my Nana or it just wasn't a good time. Then when we saw my Nana for christmas, it turns out she can't remember, so I just got my Dad to write down a couple of thoughts about Penny and I used that as my journelling.

And I made this card for last months kaisercraft monthly sketch challenge. I think I'll give it to my cousin for her 6th birthday in July.

My Chemical Romance are making a special version of their song 'SING' with all proceeds going to Red Cross Japan. Their asking for videos, photos and artwork to be in the video, you can read about it on Ray's blog, so I figured I would use my scrapbooking skills to make this peice of art.

I added a New Zealand flag to show where I'm from, but then it looked weird, like I got the flags mixed up lol, so I added the Japanese flag aswell.

And here's the original version of SING, it's such an amazing song.

I made this diorama for a Panic! at the Disco contest . the challenge was to make a peice of art representing either 1 vice or 1 virtue, so i chose peacefulness. once again, i took inspiration from Lindsey Way.

I only had about 10 days to make it, so it's slightly rushed lol, but I'm still really pleased with how it turned out.

and there was yet another earthquake in Christchurch a couple of hours ago (6.3). the buildings were already weakend from last years earthquake so quite a few fell down and hundreds of people are trapped and an unknown number of deaths. i really don't get why there's been so many natural disasters in the past year. when will mother nature leave us alone?

i ruffled up some lace with thread then stitched it down. the photo was kind of an accident lol, i didn't aim the camera right and thought "i'll delete that one later". but after some editing, it turned out to be the best of the bunch. plus it focuses more on my earphones and the music posters in the background, rather than on me. the journelling is some of my favourite songs right now.

for me, the hardest part of scrapbooking is picking paper to match the photo. i spent a fair few hours trying to find paper to match this photo, and in the end i think i did well lol.

i made this layout for the scraplift challenge at Paper Secrets. it was the perfect challenge for me because i've been wanting to do a punched out background, i just needed inspiration first lol. all the paper is from a kaisercraft 6x6 paperpad. it's pretty much impossible to tell that the striped paper is actually 2 peices joined up, pretty sneaky lol.

my mum's maiden name is Cooke, and this is an old family photo of the Cooke's (minus my auntie, who i'm guessing took the photo lol). i made the brown circles by dipping a small lid into watery paint and stamping it onto the paper.

so now it's 2011. i hope this year will be kind to me lol. i just got back from holiday a couple of days ago. spent 2 weeks in auckland (nz) with family. i got covered in mosquito bites and got some pretty bad sunburns, but it was awesome to just get away for awhile. i managed to do some shopping for scrapbooking supplies lol. i found a really good shop near my aunties house, where i got some discounted 6x6 paper pads, rubons and chipboard. the second shop i went to is closed till the end of the month, and the third was completly closed down, so that was a bummer.for some reason my dad's camera kept taking over-exposed photos, but my bro let us borrow his and we took a fair amount of photos before it died (we had no way to recharge it). so from then on we could only take videos with my dad's camera.
this pigeon was willing to eat from my hand, but i didn't like the look of it's sharp beack lol:

so other than playing bass in the band Mindless Self Indulgence, Lindsey is also an artist. i was looking on her new website yesterday, lindseyway.com, and was amazed. when i think of an artist, i picture paints and canvases, not paper and punches, so i was excited to see that Lindsey is more of a papercraft artist. i really wanna make something like these now.

i'm so jealous of the amount of punches she has lol. i want that Martha Stewart monarch butterfly even more now =)

lately i haven't been able to do much scrapbooking coz my dad took the laptop out of my scraproom/bedroom so he could convert tapes to mp3s or something. the laptop holds all my sketches and inspiring layouts, so it's kinda difficult scrapping without it, and he just doesn't understand that lol. but at least it's given me a chance to make some christmas cards, i still have about 5 more to make.

i created this layout for Ingeborg's scrapbooking competitions based on the sketch below. it's of my brother on my poppas boat in 1990. i used a florish stamp, but it didn't turn out that great, so i filled them in with a black gel pen which made them stand out alot more.

i found some lace paper at my lss and thought it would make an awesome mask, so this is what i came up with lol. after i masked and doodled on the background, i noticed that it didn't need any paper or many embellishments, and i didn't want it to look cluttered. so it's a pretty simple lo.

oh, and i have some awesome news. i've been published in scrapbook news and review, under masks and stencils. so i'm pretty stoked about that lol

another lo to go in my 'favourite music' album. i started this one last month but couldn't think of much to write other than "awesome". so i left it on my desk for a couple of weeks just waiting for inspiration to strike. i finished this a few weeks ago and i'm finally putting it on here (still getting used to this whole blogging thing lol).

i made this lo based on the creative scrappers 125th sketch. my dad gave me the title, but now i'm thinking i should've titled it "grin and bear it", oh well lol. i started this lo a couple of weeks ago based on a different sketch but it just wasn't working, so i flipped the cardstock over and started again with this sketch:

I've had this photocopied pic of my brother lying around for about 2 years, and i finally scrapped it lol. I had so much fun with all the doodling and making handmade trees.

I used a kaisercraft 6x6 paperpad to make this layout.

The photo is of my mum, about 1960. I think it's really cute, so for once, I didn't need my dad's help to come up with a title, lol.

A couple of weeks ago I went to the Petone Carnival where the main event was the burning sculptures. I managed to take these photos with a point and shoot camera (my dad forgot to take the dslr camera with us lol).
